KidWind Project, Inc. Solar Challenge

Team Power of the Sun, from PA Steam Academy in Harrisburg, PA, won the Rookie of the Year at the KidWind Project, Inc. Solar Challenge 2024. Teams had to construct a solar powered device, which was evaluated on thoughtful, creative and resourceful design, the innovation and complexity of its circuitry, the team’s reflections on the construction process, and what they learned about solar power. There were also specific guidelines regarding the size, materials, making a wiring diagram, accessory loads and power storage, budget, and if the team was using solar panels and/or microcontrollers. Coach Bower, Kenya, DeLord, Jessica, Kendall, Manny and Derick allowed Black Owners of Solar Services (BOSS) and Dana Redden to be a part of the award winning competition.
