During The Nature Conservancy & Clean Energy Buyers Institute (TNC/CEBI) Market Standards Steering Committee Workshop, workshop attendees gathered to discuss the importance of community involvement within the context of renewable energy projects, aiming for inclusivity and equitable engagement. During the three day workshop, the sessions explored how setting a shared set of market standards can lead to successful involvement of stakeholders and implementation. The goal is to ensure that all stakeholders, including historically marginalized populations, are considered and included in the planning and implementation of clean energy initiatives. The initiatives should be aligned with globally recognized conservation and community engagement conventions and organizations. The three categories of community, conservation, and climate were used to help frame the standard scope. The attendees also explored the potential gaps in market standards that may play a role in limiting the success of projects. In doing so, the group was able to identify additional criteria that future student/TNC research may be able to address.
